We love trains here in Boone,
Iowa; especially ones pulled by steam engines. During our long railroad
history, we've been host to steam engines bigger and smaller than the
UP 844. We even have one working 2-8-2 steam engine (the Iowan) that
lives here at the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad.
It operates every year on Saturdays from Memorial Day through October,
pulling passengers through the Boone County countryside, through the
Des Moines river valley to Fraser, then back to the city of Boone. For
more information, check out the B&SVRR web site. You might even see Thomas if your timing is right!
